Understanding the Concept of Web Hosting?

For any website to be available for accessing on the internet or World Wide Web, it has to be on a computer that is connected to the Internet. That computer on which your site is hosted, called host for it.

Any computer can work as a host. It may be at home, office or anywhere in the world. All you need for the host are-
• Power
• An Internet connection
• A dedicated IP address

Each computer or machine that make a connection to the Internet has an IP address. This address is unique for that particular machine and allows other  devices or computers on the Internet to find you. It's just as single as the street address of your residence. For any website to be readily available online, it should have a same IP address, called a dedicated IP address.

You could get your own dedicated IP address at on your own computer and host your website, but what happens when the power goes out, your Internet connection failed, or you need to reboot your computer? In these circumstances  your website wouldn't be available for anyone to see, which would be really bad.

The solution to this problem is web host or web hosting company and that has an address. Web hosts has web servers (a dedicated machine with many computers connected together and server is  always connected to a strong internet connection). So you need to buy web space on the web servers as per your website requirement, provided by web hosts if you want your website always available on internet without any interruption of power, internet connection and dedicated IP.

There are so many web host world wide that are serving well. You may also select for a web host as per the location of your business situated - website hosting company in India, USA etc. These web hosts offer several web hosting services such as  dedicated server hosting in India, VPS Hosting USA, Shared Hosting, Reseller Hosting for both linux or windows platform.

You can select any type of web hosting as per your website or application requirements.
